About Me

Why a simple kind of life? Well, thats what my husband and I are trying to instill in our family. We are Christians and living a simple life is what God wants for us. I say trying because that is what we are doing. We need to keep that in the forefront of our minds as we go through all the crazy yet unforgettable days a family of four goes through. Life is very busy with a smart and inquisitive four yearold, active, curious, funny 2 1/2 year old and a new baby. As teachers, we enjoy our summers off with our children spending time at the beach, boating or just in our backyard relaxing. We know what and Who is important in this life, but we also can admit that we do enjoy things that don’t really matter like reality TV, good food and my weakness, shopping. All in all its all about balance and keeping God first.

Latest redo

Lets go back to when TJ and I first got hitched.  We were married the same year we bought our new house and started our first jobs as teachers therefore we couldn't afford to furnish the house with new furniture from those nice furniture stores.....so we went to ikea and furnished our 2 bedroom ranch for under $1400.  Fast forward 7 years later we have bought our first piece of real furniture from Ballard's design.  Our dining room table.  It so AWESOME!  I will post some pics tomorrow of the dining room before and after.  I definitely need a new camera because many of the before pictures of what I have done to the house is taken on my phone so the quality isn't up to par but you will get the picture.  So this is the recent redo and the last for awhile...maybe.  I have done a lot in the past month or so so I will be posting those things in the meantime.

The coffee table before:  It actually was a high gloss black table that we bought for $40 off of craigslist.  A little high in price but it is a quality piece.  After I started to sand it I remembered to take the before pic....Ugh.

I sanded the table to remove some of the black paint then lightly painted it white.  After I stained the "paint"  with a charcoal stain and got these results.

The look I was going for was the old, beatup, not-so-perfect look....something from an old farmhouse.  Its country chic.

We absolutely LOVE it.  It fits with my decor and I couldn't be happier.
