About Me

Why a simple kind of life? Well, thats what my husband and I are trying to instill in our family. We are Christians and living a simple life is what God wants for us. I say trying because that is what we are doing. We need to keep that in the forefront of our minds as we go through all the crazy yet unforgettable days a family of four goes through. Life is very busy with a smart and inquisitive four yearold, active, curious, funny 2 1/2 year old and a new baby. As teachers, we enjoy our summers off with our children spending time at the beach, boating or just in our backyard relaxing. We know what and Who is important in this life, but we also can admit that we do enjoy things that don’t really matter like reality TV, good food and my weakness, shopping. All in all its all about balance and keeping God first.

I can smell summer in the air.

Summer officially begins in our house on Memorial Day weekend.  We had an awesome weekend with our families and continue to enjoy the afternoons during the week in our own backyard.  The kids are having a blast together....I wish I they can be these ages forever!

My little boy turned 1.

What a day....Hunter's first birthday has come and gone and I find myself trying to savor every moment of this fun age.  He is full of kisses and hugs.....likes to play chase with us or his sister.....shares all of his food with Dallas....Dallas is his buddy!  Hunter is talking more....and has the scream that's out of control.  He will do it at 5 am to try to wake his sister up or while they are eating...they do it in the car back and forth.  Its actually kinda funny even though it drives me crazy at times.  He loves the park or being outside riding in his wagon or running around in the backyard.  He also loves when daddy pushes him on the swing.

This is what happens when I try to take a picture of the two of them together

I asked Layna to open her eyes...Can you tell?

Where has this year gone?  I remember giving birth to my beautiful Hunter Boy and now we are celebrating his 1st birthday.

God has blessed TJ and I with two beautiful children.  Each day we are thankful for His gifts to us and will continue to use His word as a "lamp to our feet and a light for our path" on this journey of parenthood (Psalms 119:105.)

Thank you God for trusting us with your children.

Sibling love at its best

I am sure this is only the beginning.....Look at the love in Layna's eyes as she cares for her little brother.

And then there are times of discord.........
No Hunter....not my high heels

Don't mess with me when I am on a mission girl!

Layna's birthday request

Layna is at an age where she loves to watch mommy put on makeup and get dressed. She copies me putting on makeup and loves to put on my heels.  As I am getting ready for church this morning,  Layna says "Layna get one when shes older"  pointing to my bra.  Layna then says " Layna a big girl get one soon."  I proceed to tell her she won't need one for a long time.  She then says "Layna get one for her birthday."  I told her to go tell her father that;)

The mullet is gone, gone, gone.

We finally cut Hunter's hair. Its been a long time coming. I had visions of growing it into this longer surfer style since it will be bleach blond this summer but after weeks of him looking like I don't take care of him something had to be done.

Before

Had to use food to bribe him.

He looks like a little boy now.....I wish I could get a better pic but hes on the move constantly!

Walking at 10 1/2 months....really?

Hunter is now walking more and more each day.  Here he is taking a couple steps but by the end of today he was walking down our hallway without falling.  We are so in for it!!!!!  His big sister is so proud of him.  I bet he will catch up to her speed in no time at all!
