About Me

Why a simple kind of life? Well, thats what my husband and I are trying to instill in our family. We are Christians and living a simple life is what God wants for us. I say trying because that is what we are doing. We need to keep that in the forefront of our minds as we go through all the crazy yet unforgettable days a family of four goes through. Life is very busy with a smart and inquisitive four yearold, active, curious, funny 2 1/2 year old and a new baby. As teachers, we enjoy our summers off with our children spending time at the beach, boating or just in our backyard relaxing. We know what and Who is important in this life, but we also can admit that we do enjoy things that don’t really matter like reality TV, good food and my weakness, shopping. All in all its all about balance and keeping God first.

Really?

Layna:  Where are Layna's purple high heels?  Me:  No Layna...you are not wearing your heels to Laine's graduation party tomorrow.  Layna:  Layna go to the dance party after with Laine.  What? A dance party?  She needs to learn how to dance before she goes to a dance party.....swaying doesn't count;)

You say tomato I say tomahto

I didn't know a three year old could be super independent and opinionated.  I say wear sneakers she says flip flops.  I say lets wear pink nail polish she says purple. Everyday she asks me what color flip flops to put on and when I tell her she puts on the complete opposite color.  I always ask her why she bothers asking me for my opinion then I quickly realize how much Layna is like me and I like my mother.  Its crazy how much she is like me.  She definitely has my attitude and dramatic responses to things.  She is super loud like me and likes it her way......hmmmm....I look forward to those lovely teenage years!  The only thing that she absolutely did not get from me is her love for super girlie, frilly things.  She is the daughter my mother always wanted.....Layna loves dressing up in princess attire or just in a tutu and heels.  That seems to be her summer attire lately.  She can walk better in heels than I ever could.  She also loves pink and thinks everything should be painted pink including our house.  She wants her toes and nails painted daily and loves to put on makeup....she is also better at that than I am.  I look forward to all those times were we can shop for pretty dresses for prom and dances because I am sure we will like the same things...and it will be just like in the movies....where everyone is happy and its such an amazing experience between a mother and a daughter.  I know my prom gown shopping experience was awesome!  So as much as I tried to put her in blues and greens and give her a soccer ball to play with she much rather dress up, ride her bike wearing a tiara or paint her nails.... So all in all I am thankful that my 3 year old little girl is independent, thinks for herself and is so loving to those around her.....she has the biggest heart and that is truly a blessing to us.

Training for football has begun in our house.

No...not TJ  but Hunter.  He loves to take the ball from Layna and run.  Hes like Forrest Gump, if he was outside he would be running down the street.  We have been stuck inside these first couple days of summer vacation because of the weather. As you can see we are definitely going stir crazy........we are ready for the beach!
